Ticketmaster claimed previously leaked barcodes are ineffective due to SafeTix technology; now threat actors have released 10 million E-Tickets instead.
Earlier this month, the hacker group ShinyHunters managed to leak 170,000 Taylor Swift tickets and breach Ticketmaster, a leading provider of booking and ticketing services in the arts and entertainment industry.
This release was meant to serve as a warning message to Ticketmaster, requesting payment of$2 million to avoid the public disclosure of millions of users' information and event barcodes for upcoming concerts organized by the company.
Ticketmaster, an established brand in the industry, recently encountered a significant data breach that impacted a staggering 560 million users.
There is a connection between this breach and the attacks on the cloud provider Snowflake, which also affected the financial services company Santander. In the face of the threat,
Ticketmaster remained solid and refused to give in to the hackers' demands. They confidently stated that the leaked data was rendered useless thanks to their innovative SafeTix technology.
“Ticketmaster's SafeTix technology protects tickets by automatically refreshing a new and unique barcode every few seconds so it cannot be stolen or copied.” The company responded.
With that, Sp1d3rHunters has recently made another move by releasing a whopping 10 million Ticketmaster event tickets. These tickets include shows by popular artists like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, and Justin Timberlake, among others.
ShinyHunters E-tickets leak post
Compared to the leaked barcodes, these are E-tickets that can be easily printed at home. This renders Ticketmaster's SafeTix technology ineffective in this scenario, as the barcodes on printed tickets remain unchanged.
Here are the tickets that have been leaked for the top 100 future events:
Hozier – Unreal Unearth Tour 2024: 410,211 tickets
Morgan Wallen – One Night At A Time 2024: 354,455 tickets
Foo Fighters – Everything Or Nothing At All: 324,662 tickets
Twenty One Pilots – The Clancy World Tour: 254,101 tickets
Chris Stapleton – All-American Road Show: 206,850 tickets
Justin Timberlake – The Forget Tomorrow World Tour: 205,677 tickets
Kacey Musgraves – Deeper Well World Tour: 205,608 tickets
Dashboard Confessional – Fall Tour 2024: 17,451 tickets
Based on the list, it appears that these tickets cover a wide range of events, including concerts, world tours, soccer matches, live standup comedies, and theatrical performances.
These tickets are available on a black hat crime forum, allowing anyone interested in attending these Ticketmaster concerts to easily enter with the printed tickets.
