The 8Base ransomware group has announced on its blog sites that it expanded its victim count by targeting five new companies as victims in the Asian region.
TC Capital Asia Limited in Hong Kong, Topserve Service Solutions in the Philippines, LCS and Partners in Taiwan, and Hokushinko Co., Ltd. and Taiyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. in Japan are among the companies that have been impacted.
8Base ransomware is known to have been consistently targeting a variety of sectors, including finance, manufacturing, IT, and healthcare, since its inception in 2023.
It has primarily affected organizations in the United States and Brazil. To gain access to sensitive data, the ransomware typically infiltrates systems through deceptive emails and delivers its payload.

They infect a company's infrastructure and systems, encrypt the file with military-grade encryption, and alter the file type and extension, rendering it unusable. The ransomware's developers are the only ones capable of reversing and decrypting this encryption therefore they demand payment in exchange for the recovery of the files.
The most recent increase in attacks against Asian companies indicates that 8Base has made changes to its malware campaign to target regions beyond its initial areas of focus.
Ransomware viruses typically make use of time limits to force the compromised companies to pay up within a given period. Otherwise, the threat actors will leak the sensitive files of the specific company.
As of the time of writing, Hokushinko Co. and Taiyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. have surpassed their ransom payment deadlines, which has led to the publication of a download link for their compromised files on the ransomware's blog page.
TC Capital Asia Limited, Topserve Service Solutions, and LCS and Partners are approaching a deadline of six days before their data may undergo a similar fate.
Dark Web Intelligence on X, a reputable source that is active on Twitter, disclosed this information, highlighting the increasing threat posed by ransomware organizations that exploit vulnerabilities across international borders.
